About the Mini / Toy Shar-Pei

The Miniature and Toy Shar-Pei have recently gained in popularity.  As they are pure-bred Shar-Pei they can be registered with the American Kennel Club (A.K.C.) or the United Kennel Club (U.K.C.).  Their size, which is below the standard for the Chinese Shar-Pei, eliminates them from being shown in Conformation events conducted by either organization. The Miniature Shar-Pei Club of America (www.mspca.net)  is the official registry organization for the miniature Shar-Pei and also holds occasional Conformation Shows.

A Shar-Pei is considered a Miniature if it does not exceed 17 inches at the withers, excluding wrinkles.

A Shar-Pei is generally considered a Toy if it is 15 inches or smaller  at the withers, excluding wrinkles.

Note: All of my Mini/Toy Shar-Pei weigh between 20-35 pounds.

About the Traditional Shar-Pei
